Project Title: A critique of the financial impact and practicalities of a BEV vs. an ICE

Project Description

1.8 million cars were registered in the UK in 2011 with 23,601 of them Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs) such as LPG or Ethanol giving a total market share of 1.3%. (SMMT, 2012) As of September 2020 AFVs, have a market share closer to 7% a dramatic increase from their introduction 10 years prior. However, the purchase price of a PEV is still higher than an ICE vehicle, with a survey from The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders stating that 44% of motorist have reservations over the initial cost of the vehicle and ~40% have reservations about the EVs capabilities.

After trying a previous degree in Computer Science and working full time for 3 years I finally found my passion in Automotive Engineering.

It was an ideal choice for me due to the smaller class sizes compared to other universities which allowed for a closer bond and better teaching from the lecturers.

Hopefully to start a career which focuses on the future of powertrain development and EV/Alternative Fuel research.
