Project title: Reverse engineering of a KTM RC250R connecting rod to reduce mass and improve vehicle performance
Reverse engineering of a KTM RC250R connecting rod to reduce mass and improve vehicle performance. Found that by using Titanium for the connecting rod it reduces mass and overall friction thus less mechanical losses and greater acceleration. Also using modelling and computational methods with FEA to can accelerate the design of a new connecting rod made of Super TIX-51AF, a new titanium alloy.
Why did you choose this course?
I chose this course over all others because it is studying the design and physics behind a motorcycle which is a main life passion of mine.
Why did you choose to attend UWTSD?
To keep learning and continue to work at the side of the race track whilst developing a network of people within the industry I am looking to begin a career. I plan to look for prototype motorcycle development/engineering work and find myself within a role I can build upon what I’ve gained over the last 4 years.
